Florida Wave Challenge | Cocoa Beach, Florida | November 5, 2011

Eddy Patricelli dominated the 2011 FWC with solid wave riding, forward loops
and shuv-its. John Ingebritsen placed 2nd with his characteristic long
wave rides. John Campbell, last year's champion, couldn't quite find his
rhythm but still put on a very strong performance. He was the only one
who attempted a back loop. It was the highest jump in the contest but
was forced to bail when he doubted he could make a safe landing.

The contest got underway just after noon with 17 competitors who were
tested by strong and gusty wind. Ripping winds sand blasted the judges
and spectators through out the day.

The Bambaces (Happy Birthday, John) spent the entire day shooting
photos. Food was provided by Beth Winkler. Surprise visitor of the day
was WindSurfing mag editor Josh Sampiero straight from the just
completed AWT event at Ho'okipa. Big thanks to sponsors Chinook, Hot
Sails Maui, Exocet and Aerotech.

A special thanks to Bruce Thomas whose vision, hard work and generosity
have brought us 5 years of wave sailing contests, an almost lost
tradition here in Florida.

Thanks again to all of you who made this community gathering possible...
